Happy Thanksgiving!

We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.

I really like this quote and I think it’s one of the reasons I like Thanksgiving so much. Not only do we get to feast on delicious food (hopefully with family and friends) but it’s a day when we can focus on all the wonderful things in our lives that really count, all the treasures, even if it’s only for a few moments.

With Thanksgiving Day approaching I look forward to seeing my family and my mouth waters just thinking about all the delicious food that I’ll be lucky enough to eat. I have to say that I have many favorites but one I really like on Thanksgiving is the good ‘ole green bean casserole with those crunchy fried onions on top.  I also love the slightly sweet and buttery homemade rolls my sister makes - slathered with more butter! (Unfortunately, this year I was asked to make those rolls since my sister won’t be home. I just hope they don’t turn out like hockey pucks!)

I am thankful for many things in my life but mostly my children, and my family and friends who have helped me through a very difficult year. I asked my coworkers here at ChangingStreets what their favorite Thanksgiving Day food is and also what they are thankful for this year. Below are their responses:

Sweet potatoes and green bean casserole…yummy!!!   I'm thankful for a lot (especially with all those who have suffered this year) and times haven't been easy for my family either but I'm blessed beyond words ... thankful for my family and friends who are with me through it all.     - Kim Babcock

I am thankful for bacon.      - Adam Abt

My favorite dish is sweet potatoes with homemade caramel crunch topping. And, I’m very thankful for God, family, friends and a job I love!! I have had an awesome real estate year thanks to some wonderful families buying houses!! Whoooo hoooo!!    - Shannon Jones

I love stuffing with gravy and I’m thankful for my grandchildren.    -  Margie Pattee

My favorite is green bean casserole and I’m thankful for my family.    - Willie Ray

My favorite Thanksgiving food is sweet potato mallow that my mother makes every year. I'm thankful for having a wonderful family, great friends, and helpful coworkers.    - Sada McNiel

Sweet potato bake and I'm thankful for my family!    - Trish Harbin

My favorite food on Thanksgiving is pumpkin pie and I’m thankful that my family is healthy.    - Carol Scharrer

I am thankful for the love and joy I get from my wonderful family. I love sweet potatoes with marshmallows melted on top, yum...one of my mom’s recipes.    - Carol Murtha

The love of family and friends, good health and great food are all wonderful treasures in which to be grateful. On behalf of all of us at ChangingStreets.com Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
